Principal's Message
We are down to the last 7 days of the school year for Tracks B, C, and D! Our last day is Tuesday, June 30th, which is a minimum day. Report Cards will go home with students on the last day of school. The office will be closed July 1st-3rd to prepare for the first day of school on July 6th.
You can support our PTO by joining us at Cold Stone on Friday, June 26th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. This is the perfect weather for a scoop of ice cream. Cold Stone is donating $1 to the Legacy Parliament PTO for every ice cream purchased, so make sure to show the flyer below when you pay.
As we close out this school year, we are already preparing for the 2026-2027 school year. All important dates have already been added to the website calendar, and the year-round calendar is also available on the website or using the "Year Round Student Attendance Calendars" button below. The updated Student-Parent Handbook for next year has been uploaded to our website. Make sure to read through for specific school and district policies. I will be highlighting specific sections of the handbook in the newsletter for the first month of school.
Sincerely,
Adrienne Chase
Principal

🦉Combining Respect + ResponsibilitySometimes children show more than one expectation at a time! Celebrate those moments with specific praise so they know how their choices connect to PBIS.
Example Praise:
🦉 Building Positive Habits
The more kids hear positive language tied to Respectful, Responsible, and Safe, the more natural it becomes. Try ending the week by celebrating a few highlights.

Please call the school when your child is absent at (909) 364-2319
Parents/guardians shall call the school office between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm, submit the absence through the Parent Portal, or send an email/hand-written note to the office, upon returning to school (BP/AR 5112.1). You have three days to clear your child’s absence. Please contact the school office in advance of any long-term (3 or more days) unavoidable absence to arrange a schedule of the work to be completed by the student. This must be done at least one week in advance.
How to report an absence:
|
|
Absences
Absence Verification (AR 5113, EC 46012, 5 CCR 306)
CVUSD requests that parents/guardians clear their student’s absence daily. Parents/guardians have 5 school days to clear absences with the school's attendance clerk. If not cleared within five school days, the absence becomes unverified and cannot be changed.
The SARB Process as Established by LAW
A letter will be sent to the parent at the following intervals for unexcused or truancy absences:
- Third (3) - Unexcused absences: Classified as a Truant (reported to attendance administrator) 1st Letter sent to home.
- Sixth (6) - Unexcused absences: Second Truancy (again reported to attendance administrator) 2nd Letter and School Attendance Review Team (SART) meeting or meeting with administrator.
- Ninth (9) - Unexcused absences: Third Truancy (classified as a habitual truant and subject to summons to appear at a School Attendance Review Board (SARB).
Note: Ten (10) excused absences are considered to be excessive. Education Code Sec. 48260 - Any pupil subject to full-time education or to compulsory education who is absent from school without a valid excuse more than (3) days or tardy or absent for more than any 30-minute period during the school day without a valid excuse or three occasions in one school year, or any combination thereof, is a truant and shall be reported to the attendance administrator or superintendent of the school district. A note from the doctor will be requested after 10 absences.
When a parent takes their child out of school early, for reasons not acceptable as excused, for longer than a 30 minute period, more than three times during the year, that child becomes a truant. If your child is absent due to a doctor/dentist appointment, please provide a note from the doctor to excuse the tardy, early release, or absence.
