26-27 Track Change Request Form
The track change request form for the 26-27 school year is available from March 1st to March 31st for Legacy Academy students currently in Kindergarten to 5th grade. This process is outlined on page 6 of the Student-Parent Handbook.
Families can request a track change for the following school year on an annual basis. The opening of the electronic Track Change Request Form will be communicated (newsletter, Parent Square, website) to families the first week of March, and the form will close on March 31st at 4:00 pm. A lottery to determine the waitlist order will be held on or before April 30th. Any requests for track change after March 31st at 4:00 pm need to be made in the office and will be placed on the waitlist below the lottery names, in the order received. Administration will make track changes utilizing the waitlist if there is space. Completing a request form does not guarantee a track change. If the change can be made, you will be contacted by the office staff and must respond within 24 hours. The waitlist will expire annually on October 15th.

📚 PBIS and Problem-Solving, Part 5
Kids learn best when expectations are clear and mistakes turn into teachable moments. Each week, we’re sharing a quick PBIS scenario so you can model Respectful, Responsible, and Safe behaviors at home just like we do at school.
Scenario: Your child runs down the hallway at home. PBIS Response:
State the behavior: “I saw you running inside.”
Connect to expectation: “Being safe means walking indoors so no one gets hurt.”
Practice: “Let’s practice walking from the living room to the kitchen safely.”

Please call the school when your child is absent at (909) 364-2319
Parents/guardians shall call the school office between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm, submit the absence through the Parent Portal, or send an email/hand-written note to the office, upon returning to school (BP/AR 5112.1). You have three days to clear your child’s absence. Please contact the school office in advance of any long-term (3 or more days) unavoidable absence to arrange a schedule of the work to be completed by the student. This must be done at least one week in advance.
How to report an absence:
|
Absences
Absence Verification (AR 5113, EC 46012, 5 CCR 306)
CVUSD requests that parents/guardians clear their student’s absence daily. Parents/guardians have 5 school days to clear absences with the school's attendance clerk. If not cleared within five school days, the absence becomes unverified and cannot be changed.
The SARB Process as Established by LAW
A letter will be sent to the parent at the following intervals for unexcused or truancy absences:
- Third (3) - Unexcused absences: Classified as a Truant (reported to attendance administrator) 1st Letter sent to home.
- Sixth (6) - Unexcused absences: Second Truancy (again reported to attendance administrator) 2nd Letter and School Attendance Review Team (SART) meeting or meeting with administrator.
- Ninth (9) - Unexcused absences: Third Truancy (classified as a habitual truant and subject to summons to appear at a School Attendance Review Board (SARB).
Note: Ten (10) excused absences are considered to be excessive. Education Code Sec. 48260 - Any pupil subject to full-time education or to compulsory education who is absent from school without a valid excuse more than (3) days or tardy or absent for more than any 30-minute period during the school day without a valid excuse or three occasions in one school year, or any combination thereof, is a truant and shall be reported to the attendance administrator or superintendent of the school district. A note from the doctor will be requested after 10 absences.
When a parent takes their child out of school early, for reasons not acceptable as excused, for longer than a 30 minute period, more than three times during the year, that child becomes a truant. If your child is absent due to a doctor/dentist appointment, please provide a note from the doctor to excuse the tardy, early release, or absence.

Visitor Aware
The district has replaced its former visitor management system, Raptor, with Visitor Aware. Visitor Aware is designed to enhance security while streamlining operations for CVUSD school sites.
Similar to Raptor, Visitor Aware provides an additional layer of security for our students by validating the identities of anyone entering the premises, determining if they are a potential threat, and keeping accurate records of all school visits. The best part, nothing new is required by visitors! The same process of providing a physical photo ID at check-in is all that is needed.
Visitors who elect not to provide current ID will not be permitted on campus. Please see the flyer below for more information.
